Three V8 M500 ROVs to Australia
Perth-based Intervention Engineering has been pioneering inspection ROV solutions using Ocean Modules ROV systems for 15 years. Innovations include diverless coral monitoring, deepwater benthic monitoring, seabed sampling, marine pests inspection, waterblasting, 3D photogrammetry/modelling, UXO location/neutralization, pipeline marker installation and FPSO/platform support.
Intervention Engineering has brought their fleet of Ocean Modules ROV systems to 14 by strengthening it with three V8 M500 ROVs.

Yet Another Successful Expedition
The MOSAiC International Arctic Drift Expedition is the largest arctic expedition in history, during which the AWI V8 ROV systems were tasked with a number of jobs beneath the ice.
The ROV systems performed without suffering a single severe fault despite harsh conditions during the year-long expedition.

New order for Ocean Modules V8 L3000 OFFSHORE
Ocean Modules has received another order for its V8 L3000 Offshore.
The V8 L3000 Offshore will come equipped with a Teledyne Marine TSS 350, a BlueView M900-130, a BlueView BV5000, Bowtech LEDs, an OceanTools Ltd DigiCP, a Tritech MicronNav, a CaviDyne LLC Water Jet System, an Imenco Micro Latch and an Ocean Modules digiPhone+.
The Ocean Modules V8 M500 and V8 L3000 ROV systems are ideal for cable tracking, as the unique 360° six-degrees-of-freedom control system allows precise control over every angle of the vehicle, in any combination. The control system can hold the chosen position indefinitely by automatically correcting for forces such as current, umbilical tether cable drag and uneven weight or buoyancy balancing.
A Future Firefighting Solution
Everyone remembers the summer of 2018, not least for the extreme heat, but above all for the serious forest fires that followed. The counties of Gävleborg, Jämtland and Dalarna were affected by significant and difficult-to-extinguish fires. Towns were evacuated and authorities, rescue workers and volunteers worked relentlessly for weeks to contain the fires. Sweden was forced to enlist the help of international resources, such as firefighting planes and helicopters.
ACC Innovation has developed the world's largest flying quadcopters as an alternative to manned aircraft and helicopters over the past five years. ACC Innovation is an ACC Group subsidiary, located in the Industrial Business Residence in Åtvidaberg. One of the models currently in development is the Thunderwasp, which consists of a replaceable middle section that can be adapted as required, including a water module for firefighting.
Ocean Discovery Wreck Documentation
All images © Ocean Discovery AB. Ocean Discovery AB in Västervik has investigated three wrecks for the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management using the fantastic stability and agility of the Ocean Modules V8 M500 ROV.
The condition and potential environmental impact of the Baltic Sea wrecks of Bremsund, Immen and Lindesnäs was documented with among other technologies sidescan sonar, 3D photography, video, hull thickness measurement and collection of water samples.
The project has included development of a command unit allowing full control of the Nikon D810 camera and powerful underwater strobes over Ethernet from the surface. A longer report is available on the ACC Group website. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.

Ocean Modules at Maritime Search and Rescue 2019
As search and rescue organisations face harsher conditions, more complex operations and increased responsibility they are now turning to new technologies, advanced platforms and increased collaboration to overcome new and growing challenges.
Ocean Modules is presenting future solutions at the Maritime Search and Rescue 2019 conference at the Hilton Tallinn Park, Tallinn Estonia.
Now in its fourth year, the conference is focused on new unmanned/autonomous platforms, increasing collaboration and understanding for complex operations such as mass rescue and chemical spills.

Great start to Ocean Business
We've had a great start to Ocean Business 19, with big crowds and lots of interest!
There is still time to check out the world's most advanced remotely-operated underwater research vehicle, the Alfred Wegener Institut V8 M500, which is on display at booth V43, just across the hall from the dockside demo area and around the corner from the waterfront café.

Blom completes 1430 hours
Blom Fiskeoppdrett AS has completed over 1430 hours of active in-water work with their V8 M500 since acquiring it in 2016. The work has primarily consisted of inspection of mooring lines that can run as deep as 450 meters, which of course means that 700 meters of umbilical tether cable and plenty of power for maintained stability is essential.
Blom’s tension winch, purpose-built for the V8 M500, is essential for practical and hassle-free umbilical tether management for jobs that require constant unspooling and respooling of the cable.
Blom's V8 M500 will be equipped with the new DC/DC converter shortly. The new power management solution has been successfully tested with 1100 meters of umbilical tether cable with all thrusters operating at full capacity.
V8 M500 delivered to Folden Akva
Jon-Arne Johnsen, Kristoffer Hansen, Svein Robin Isaksen and Tom Remi Jacobsen have completed training on their new V8 M500 sea drone.
Folden Akva will use the V8 M500 for inspection of salmon farms, farm cleaning and pipe laying.
The V8 M500 is equipped with the new DCDC solution for long umbilical tether cables, a sonar, three cameras, four LED lights and a gripper.
Ocean Modules is exhibiting at Oceanology International the 13-15th of March.

SPOT.ON 3.9.1 Released
Ocean Modules has released a major update of SPOT.ON Survey System, bringing the version number to 3.9.1.
The update includes major enhancements such as an office licensing option, graphical time series plots for scientific sensors such as the Satlantic SUNA V2, Sea-Bird SBE 18, GPCTD and SBE 43F DO, Wet Labs ECO Triplet Puck and spectrum visualization for the TriOS RAMSES and VIPER G2, directory scanning for inclusion of still photos, telemetry support for common NMEA heading formats, higher resolution position data, addition of ship GPS offset, tracking of multiple actors simultaneously as well as interface, speed and stability improvements.
The new version can be downloaded and run in Viewer Mode with the freely available demonstration survey available from the SPOT.ON product page.

Ocean Business 2017
Please visit Ocean Modules in stand S7 together with Atlantas Marine at the Ocean Business expo in Southampton the 4th-6th of April. Ocean Modules will be presenting the innovative V8 M500 and V8 L3000 ROV systems, and the SPOT.ON Survey Management System.
The show's unique training and demonstration programme is one of the biggest attractions to Ocean Business, with some of the leading names in the business presenting their new innovations. This year will be no different, with Ocean Modules demonstrating ROV products in the expo demonstration pool at 10.30 on both Wednesday the 5th of April and Thursday the 6th of April.

V8 ROV in Oil & Gas Australia
Australian mini ROV specialists, DIDesign, have always sought to stay one step ahead of the curve. For over 30 years they've worked in the underwater environment, redefining and enhancing the capabilities of smaller submersibles. Now, utilising the latest technology in 3D printing, DIDesign is pioneering a new generation of subsea inspection and intervention solutions for the oil and gas industry, at a fraction of the traditional cost.
A made-to-measure mini workhorse based on an Ocean Modules V8 ROV, supplied by Intervention Engineering, was deployed to 150 metres in the Bass Straight and disassembled a well-calcified, 45 tonne working load shackle.

Pilot Chair for V8 M500/L3000
The first ROV Pilot Chair designed and built specifically for Ocean Modules V8 M500/L3000 ROV systems has been delivered to Blom Fiskeoppdrett AS, a fish-farming business in Norway.
Although Ocean Modules has delivered purpose-built ROV chairs for ROV operation customers such as DeepOcean before, this is the first one for the modern V8 platform.
According to the linked article at kyst.no (in Norwegian) Blom has hired offshore industry expert Atle Dåvøy to head up ROV operations, in a landmark move for the fish farming industry. The article contains photos of the ROV control setup that Atle has created.
V8 M500 ROV delivered to Marinetek
An Ocean Modules V8 M500 ROV system has been delivered to the Norwegian Marine Technology Research Institute (Marinetek) by distributor Ocean SAR.
Marinetek is part of the SINTEF Group and primarily works with research and development related to shipping, oil and gas and ocean energy, developing tomorrow's ocean space technology in close collaboration with industry. The new ROV system is used for test trials and maintenance during raising and lowering of the floor of the institution's large test pool.
The pool is used to test the hydrodynamics and structural engineering of aquaculture constructions, hydrodynamic loads on floating structures and ship hydrodynamics such as propulsion, seaworthiness, loads and manoeuvring.
Tension Winch to Blom Fiskeoppdrett
Blom Fiskeoppdrett AS, a fish-farming business in Norway, has taken delivery of the first Ocean Modules Tension Winch for use with their V8 M500 ROV system.
The new winch system automatically feeds and retrieves the ROV umbilical tether cable, and is operated by the pilot using a foot pedal.
Initial reports from the customer are positive, the new equipment is performing as expected, significantly increasing ease of operation.

Two V8 M500 to Republic of Korea Navy
The Republic of Korea Navy has purchased two additional Ocean Modules V8 M500 ROV systems, to be used for search and rescue, recoveries and inspections. The systems were delivered complete with color and low light cameras, multibeam sonar, manipulator, USBL positioning system, DGPS and the Ocean Modules SPOT.ON Survey Management System for tracking and recording.
A comprehensive training course held by Ocean Modules on-site in the Republic of Korea has been completed by ROKN personnel, providing skills to safely and competently operate and maintain the new equipment.

V8 M500 ROV to Blom Fiskeoppdrett
A fully equipped Ocean Modules V8 M500 ROV system has been delivered to Blom Fiskeoppdrett AS in Norway.
Blom Fiskeoppdrett is a third-generation family business, founded in 1971 by fish-farming pioneer Andreas Blom. Today, the company produces up to 10000 tons high quality salmon and trout annually for the international market.
The new ROV system, which has already completed more than 100 dives, will be used for inspection work aspects of the fish-farming business.
V8 M500 for Polar Research
German polare research institute AWI has taken delivery of two additional Ocean Modules ROV systems to carry the most comprehensive arrays of sensors ever mounted to a V8 M500 ROV. Sensors include USBL positioning, a scanning sonar, a multibeam sonar, an altimeter, a wide-angle HD camera, multiple navigation and observation cameras, a high-resolution stills camera, hyperspectral radiometer, hyperspectral extinction, red scattering, CDOM fluorescence, chlorophyll fluorescence, salinity, temperature, conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen concentration and nitrate concentration, all recorded and synchronised by the SPOT.ON Survey System software for automatic reporting.
The new ROV systems were shipped directly from acceptance test and operator training to Tromsø, where they were immediately loaded onto Polarstern for departure on expedition PS101. The activities can be followed through the weekly reports and the Polarstern blog.

Third V8 M500N to James Fisher Nuclear
Ocean Modules has delivered the third V8 M500N, a version of the standard V8 M500 certified for use in nuclear environments, to James Fisher Nuclear through the company's UK representative Atlantas Marine.
The second and third vehicles delivered have included Cerakote coating of all aluminium components, a ceramic coating allowing the ROV system to withstand particularly harsh environments.
The third system was accepted by JFN project manager Neil Slinger during a visit to the manufacturing facility in Sweden.
Operator training has subsequently been completed by Atlantas Marine at the JFN site in Egremont, UK.
V8 M500 in Lillebaelt
F.C. ROV Piloting has successfully completed an operation in Lillebaelt.
According to company owner and operator Freddy Christensen, Lillebaelt is home to the strongest running current in Denmark. Work could continue all day, with the exception of a two-hour window, despite 100 meters of umbilical tether cable in the water and currents reaching 2.5 knots during operation.
F.C. ROV Piloting has a long history of pushing Ocean Modules ROV systems to the max, often by creating specialized tools and sensors for specific jobs.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Ocean Modules ends 2015 on a high note, delivering the very first V8 M500 Long ROV system to a customer in Norway.
The V8 M500 Long can accommodate umbilical tether cables of up to 1000 meters, significantly extending the range of the V8 M500, expanding the number of jobs that can be performed with a small, powerful and nimble electric ROV even further.

Russian Submarine Discovered
A submarine has been discovered in Swedish territorial waters not far from the Swedish Baltic coast by Ocean X Team and Ixplorer, using an Ocean Modules V8 Sii.
The submarine is about 20 meters long and three meters wide, and appears to be completely intact, there is no visible damage to the hull and all covers are closed. Cyrillic lettering on the hull indicates that it is Russian.
Ocean X Team has previously made several discoveries such as shipwrecks and historical objects, including bottles of champagne from 1916.

Intervention Engineering Approved for In Water Survey
Intervention Engineering conducted their first ROV hull inspection using the first prototype V8 SII in 2007. Following the release of new guidelines last year, IE is delighted to announce that they have been approved by Lloyds Register International as a service provider for "In Water Survey of Ships and Mobile Offshore Units” using ROVs.

Coast Guard Training Completed
Ocean Modules delivered five upgraded ROV systems, including SPOT.ON Survey System, to the Swedish Coast Guard over a decade ago. The systems have been in continuous use since then, and have recently received half-life service at the Ocean Modules facility in Åtvidaberg.
During the recommissioning on two of the Coast Guard's vessels, eleven ROV pilots and maintenance personnel underwent the Ocean Modules ROV and SPOT.ON training program.
The Swedish Coast Guard also operates two Ocean Modules V8 ROV systems, which were added to their fleet three years ago.
Long Tunnel Inspection
Despite a number of corners and turns, Atlantas Marine has been able to penetrate 1500 meters into a tunnel with a diameter of only four meters using a custom-built long-umbilical remotely-operated vehicle developed by Ocean Modules.
The ROV system conists of standardised V8 ROV and surface unit components connected by a 2100 meter umbilical tether cable with a motorised tether management and cable counter system.
The entire survey was documented with the aid of two cameras, a profiler and SPOT.ON, a patented survey management software for one-touch data acquisition and automatic reporting.
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Audits Completed
A periodical audit of Ocean Q, the quality and environmental management system developed entirely inhouse at Ocean Modules, has concluded that the system conforms to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004.
This means that DNV GL, one of the world's leading certification bodies, has confirmed that the Ocean Modules quality policy and environmental policy, formal statements from management to fulfill customer and environmental needs, are backed by an effective system.
Ocean Modules has been certified for ISO 9001 since 2006, and recently acquired certification for ISO 14001, which are two of the ways we assure the performance of our organisations, products, people, facilities and supply chains through certification, verification, assessment and training.
JD Contractor Take Delivery of Two V8 M500M
JD-Contractor A/S, the largest underwater contractor in Denmark with more than 30 years experience in the diving contractor business worldwide, is the first customer to take delivery of the brand-new V8 M500M ROV.
The V8 M500M, based on the wildly popular V8 M500 ROV, is equipped with larger thrusters and a beefier power supply for extended power and speed capabilities.
We at Ocean Modules hope these two new remotely-operated underwater vehicles, which brings the Ocean Modules ROV fleet at the company to a total of five, contribute to the continued success of JD Contractor!
Success at Ocean Business
The Ocean Business exhibition which has just concluded at the Nation Oceanography Centre in Southampton was a great success for Ocean Modules, with a very busy stand hosted by Atlantas Marine and packed pool demonstrations.

First V8 M500N Delivered
Ocean Modules has completed the first V8 M500N ROV system, based on the standard V8 M500 design, but adapted specifically for the nuclear industry. The new ROV will be taken into service by James Fisher Nuclear Ltd shortly, but first it will be put on display at the Ocean Business expo in Southampton the 14th-16th of April.
The V8 M500N has a lower frame, a new toolskid design for a purpose-built set of tools, extended safety features provided by new software modes of operation and an ingenious skid adapter for existing cleaning and lifting devices.
Of course, the ROV system also fulfills the strict safety and security requirements set by the nuclear industry, including radiation testing and CE conformity marking.
Ocean Modules would like to thank James Fisher for exemplary support during the project execution, we are confident that the M500N will be a mutually beneficial success!

Coast Guard Ten Year Service
Some of the very first remotely-operated vehicle systems to leave the Ocean Modules production facility a decade ago have returned for half life service. The ROV systems have been in continuous use by the Swedish Coast Guard, who added two new Ocean Modules V8 ROV systems to their fleet three years ago.
Service technicians Fredrik and Jessica have performed a complete overhaul of each system, and certified them for continued service. The ROV systems will be returned to the Swedish Coast Guard in the next few weeks.
V8 M500 to F.C. ROV Piloting
Freddy Christensen, Managing Director of F.C. ROV Piloting in Denmark has signed a contract for an Ocean Modules V8 M500 ROV system, for immediate delivery.
Freddy and his staff have operated and maintened ROV systems delivered by Ocean Modules for years, and has trained many of the V8 ROV pilots employed around the world.
F.C. ROV Piloting experience and capabilities include ROV service for seabed surveys, pipeline inspections, ship hull inspections, wharf and pier inspections, underwater photography for television, marine biology support, fish farm administration, high-pressure washing, tank inspections and windfarm construction.
V8 M500 to Pihl Expert
Pihl Expert GmbH, an independent surveying, engineering and technology consultancy based in Hamburg, offers a broad range of offshore and marine services. This includes a wide variety of maritime inspections with specific measuring techniques including ultrasonic leakage detection, thickness and length measurement as well as coating inspections. The company's impressive list of references includes wind farm projects such as Alpha Ventus, Bard Offshore 1, Riffgatt, Dan Tysk and Nordsee Ost. Adding the new Ocean Modules ROV system to Pihl Expert's to the list of equipment at the company's disposal will allow them to extend their underwater services into new areas.
We are pleased to announce today that the Pihl Expert team of ROV specialists has taken delivery of an Ocean Modules V8 M500 ROV after completing a training course. We wish everyone at Pihl Expert the very best for all current and future projects!
Production in Full Swing
A total of six V8 ROV systems have been shipped since the Swedish industrial holiday, making 2014 one of the busiest fall quarters ever. We hope to be able to announce some of the deliveries shortly.
One includes a newly developed interface for analog cathodic protection probes, which will be released as a standard product after successful field testing.
The winter quarter is looking even more intense, Ocean Modules is hiring additional personnel in order to be able to keep up with demand.
The Ocean Modules office will close for two weeks starting Monday the 7th of July. The summer break is well-deserved after a record-beaking spring with the highest number of ROV systems ever sold and delivered during two consecutive quarters.
The period ended on a high note with contracts for four additional ROV systems signed. Expect to see announcements from these customers, and others who have recently taken delivery, shortly.
Of course the support lines will stay open during the summer break, and a small crew will be standing by to deal with urgent issues.

Oceanology Internation 2014
Ocean Modules has undertaken an aggressive delivery schedule, overshadowing the previous record from the last week of December. A total of Five V8 ROV systems, two V8 L3000 Offshore and three V8 M500 Intervention, will be completed in just under two weeks.
Two of the systems, one of each size, will be on display at the Oceanology International 2014 exhibition in London the 11th to the 13th of March.

V8 M500 Training for Baltic Diver Germany
Eyk-Uwe Pap and his team of ROV specialists at his company, Baltic Diver Germany, have just completed a three-day operations and maintenance training for their recently acquired Ocean Modules V8 M500 Intervention ROV system at the Västervik training facility.
Baltic Diver is built on over two decades of experience from operations in 25 different countries and a multitude of different types of industries.
Considering the sheer amount of enthusiasm, innovativeness and knowledge the team has, there is no doubt we will be seeing the M500 being used in new and exciting ways soon!

The result of the last two record-breaking years has been beaten, all records have been broken by a wide margin, including unit sales, number of products released and number of new customers. Although sales, turnover and revenue have all risen steadily since the company's inception in 2002, there has not previously been a year quite like 2013. Of course, the success is in part a result of the reliability of the brand new series of ROV systems launched this year and the completely reengineered SPOT.ON software.
V8 M500 and V8 L3000 systems based on the new ROV platform have been delivered to JD Contractor, Intervention Engineering, Baltic Diver and SeaTerra. Five V8 ROV systems destined for China, Germany and Australia shipped from the Ocean Modules production facility on the 23rd of December, so pace has been maintained right up to the end.
CEO Claes Drougge would like to extend a personal thanks to all of our customers, partners and suppliers. Together we will do amazing things in 2014!
Ocean X Team Expedition IV
Ocean X Team has released video material from expedition IV to the baltic anomaly. The video, which is over an hour long, first follows the team diving on the wreck Astrid as well as an undisclosed wreck.
In the last half of the movie the team goes back to the anomaly and experience all sorts of strange things including ghost-like objects at the surface around the anomaly.
Dennis also discusses the new finding from Israel that hints that the sample material is composed of iron which, if true, means that the anomaly may not be a natural occurrence.

With a growing demand to build civilian structures in offshore environments the likelihood of encountering UXO (unexploded ordnance) underwater has increased over recent years.
Cobra MDS is specifically designed to prosecute unexploded ordnance in a reliable and controlled manner. The simple deployment mechanism provides a highly effective tool for eradicating threats to both civil and military applications including mine clearance for wind farms, oil and gas pipeline laying and capital dredging projects.

M500 Delivery and Training
Ocean Modules would like to congratulate Martin, Lars, Søren, René and Jan, who have completed the V8 M500 ROV training course at the Ocean Modules training facility.
The new operators also took delivery of an additional M500 ROV system to be added to the JD Contractor fleet of V8 ROV systems. JD Contractor is the largest underwater contractor in Denmark.

SeaTerra Developing Unique Applications
German company SeaTerra GmbH has utilized the new training and testing facility set up by Ocean Modules in Västervik, with access to the dock and harbor, for integration and testing of entirely new application development on their Ocean Modules V8 L3000 Offshore ROV.
It is too early to say anything about what the application will be used for, but exciting details about the project will definitely be available here as they are cleared for public release.
JD-Contractor V8 ROV Fleet
JD-Contractor A/S, the largest underwater contractor in Denmark with more than 30 years experience in the diving contractor business worldwide, has taken delivery of the company's first two Ocean Modules V8 M500 Intervention ROV systems.
Ocean Modules would like to congratulate the first six pilots, Mikkel, Jack, Rasmus, Jeppe, Morten S and Morten H, who have all completed their V8 ROV training at the Ocean Modules training facility in Västervik.

Busiest Pre-vacation Scramble Ever
Employees have worked hard to complete a total of 18 systems to leave the facility in the last few weeks. The final four, of which three are annual service of customer systems, represent a unique view of the evolution of the mid-size V8 ROV. From left to right:
The original 360° concept V8 Sii built to US Navy specification which started it all in 2004.
The second-generation V8 Sii was equipped with thrusters designed by Ocean Modules for equal power in both directions and a larger frame for more demanding applications.
The third-generation V8 Sii saw the addition of a more hydrodynamic shape, increased buoyancy and a fiber-optic option for high-bandwidth sonar and video.
The first V8 M500 Intervention, based on a brand-new platform providing stability, reliability, expandability and control beyond anything the industry has seen before.
The Mystery Beneath
During a sonar survey of the sea floor in the Baltic, Ocean X Team found a huge, disc-shaped object resting at a depth of nearly 100 meters. The documentary of the exploration, The Mystery Beneath, is now completed.

Results are In!
The customer satisfaction survey which has been carried out every year for the last five years shows a continued trend of high customer satisfaction, and an improvement for 2012 over 2011, even though 2010, which hosted a number of very tricky projects that were completed on time and within budget, has proved hard to beat. Nevertheless, Ocean Modules will continue to work hard to provide the very best products and services for our customers.

Massive Delivery Schedule
Ocean Modules is experiencing the most demanding delivery period ever, with eight system deliveries to be completed within the next week. The schedule includes the company's sixth delivery to China and two systems to Australia. Stuart Barrow, Managing Director and owner of Intervention Engineering says:

V8 L3000 Offshore to SeaTerra
The sixth Ocean Modules V8 L3000 Offshore, the successor to the popular second-generation V8 Offshore ROV, has been delivered to German geophysics company SeaTerra GmbH. The ROV is equipped with two manipulators, including a five-function manipulator in a tool skid, two sonars and cameras.
After three days of training in Åtvidaberg the operators are convinced that the V8 L3000 Offshore is the most stable platform available for the type of work they will be performing due to the unique 360° control system.
Final Deliveries of 2012
The two last orders for several V8 range ROV systems to fit into the 2012 production slots have been placed by global power system giant ABB and a company in the West African oil industry.
With the conclusion of these orders the production process has been optimized so that the delivery time from signed contract to final inspection has been reduced to less than two weeks.
The ABB contract also includes a large component of cooperative development for a new product that will totally revolutionize its market. Keep an eye on this space for details when it is released!

New ROV Platform Presented
The new platform, which completely replaces previous platforms, is a combination of electronics and software developed by an entirely new senior research and development department consisting of engineers handpicked from the aerospace, banking security and medical instrument industries.
All three Ocean Modules ROV product lines, the V4 S300 Observation ROV, the V8 M500 Intervention ROV and V8 L3000 Offshore ROV, are now based on the new platform providing massive potential for new products and applications for many years to come.

Finnish Border Guard Delivery
Ocean Modules has successfully completed SAT for a very comprehensive order together with the Finnish Border Guard, off the coast of Helsinki.
The first delivery was finalised on time and consisted of four Ocean Modules ROV systems, equipped with positioning systems, color cameras, low-light cameras, manipulators with cutting devices, multibeam sonars, high-resolution scanning sonars and the SPOT.ON survey software, covering a wide range capabilities. The delivery also included two sidescan sonar systems.
The new tools will be used by the Finnish Border Guard to control the territorial waters of Finland, search and rescue operations at sea, environmental documentation and investigation of crime.
Intervention Engineering Visit
In departing his third visit to Ocean Modules head office, Stuart remarked:

Second Drechsler Delivery
Captain Claus Drechsler, CEO of Drechsler Marine Consult, has signed a deal with Ocean Modules Sweden AB including expansion of the Drechsler fleet of remotely-operated underwater vehicles.
Drechsler has operated a standard V8 Sii ROV in difficult environments, including carrying 18 kg of sensor equipment payload in a two-knot current, over the course of three years. The ROV has been piloted in shifts, running almost continuously for 3000 hours, without service or maintenance beyond standard preventative measures and the rotating of four thrusters.
We look forward to seeing what Drechsler will accomplish with the additional ROV capabilities!

V8 Sii Simple Valve Manipulation
Ocean Modules has assisted NUVA Norsk Undervannsarbeid in a trial of subsea equipment consisting of manipulating valves and levers.
The trials were completed using a simple tool with no moving parts at all, statically mounted on a standard V8 Sii ROV.
All manipulation was instead performed by using the stability and 360° V8 control system of the ROV, on equipment which was rotating freely in the current at a depth of 125 meters.
For the second trial, the static tool was rotated 90° to allow thruster angles to provide maximum power for the time-critical operations, yielding even better results.
Danish TV explores Marens Hul
Danish TV SYD has, along with Freddy Christensen and an Ocean Modules V8 Sii ROV, as the first film crew investigated Marens Hul in Lillbælt. Marens Hul is the deepest point in Danish waters, and is surrounded by many myths about hidden treasures.

V8 Sii ROV to Inspect Millenium Falcon
A large formation on the floor of the Baltic has aroused international curiosity and excitement. Divers and treasure hunters Dennis Åsberg and Peter Lindberg, who found the wreck of Jönköping containing vodka and champagne worth millions of dollars, made a new discovery last summer.
A sidescan image showed what appeared to be the Millenium Falcon, with a diameter of 90 meters, complete with 300 meters of drag marks, at a depth of 87 meters, according to Aftonbladet.
Now they finally have a chance to explore the circle closer using the V8 Sii ROV, to determine that the area is safe for diving.

Ocean Modules has taken a new approach to ROV engineering by recruiting an entirely new development department consisting of handpicked individuals with many years experience from the medical device and banking system industries.

Pimp My ROV
Intervention Engineering's V8 Sii ROV Lucky has had a great year, including rescuing a work class ROV in the Southern Ocean and freeing hydrophone cables from the northern reefs.
Her pilot, Jarrod, thought she deserved something special on her 3rd birthday. Lucky's custom paint job will be on display at the Australian Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference in Perth from the 22nd to the 24th of February.
V8 Sii in Police Investigation
Norwegian underwater survey company Subsea Nor is using their Ocean Modules V8 Sii to inspect the area around Nyksund-Mælen where dogs had previously indicated it is possible that a fisherman may have fallen overboard.
Ocean Modules at Pacific 2012
The Ocean Modules V8 Sii ROV is on display in booth 6J15 (Seismic Asia Pacific Pty Ltd) at the Pacific 2012 International Maritime Conference at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre until the 3rd of February.

Swedish Coast Guard Framework Agreement
The Ocean Modules V8 ROV was chosen by the the Swedish Coast Guard based on superior performance and price, as demonstrated during the procurement process. The deal is a framework agreement stretching over several years, Ocean Modules will deliver the first two remotely operated vehicles by the end of 2011.
Contrary to recent news reports, the Supreme Administrative Court in Stockholm has determined that there is no reason to grant leave to appeal the decision of the Administrative Court of Appeal in Jönköping. Ocean Modules and the Swedish Coast Guard have complied with all regulations of the Swedish Public Procurement Act.
Claes Drougge, CEO of Ocean Modules Sweden AB, commented "It is a shame that the Coast Guard has lost so much valuable time and that our taxpayer funds have been wasted over contrived minutiae, but we are relieved that the process is finally over and that common sense has prevailed."
Third V8 Offshore ROV Delivered
Another Ocean Modules V8 Offshore ROV has been delivered to Norway. The customer, Sematek AS Senter for Materialteknologi, will primarily use it for deep inspection use. The superior power, expandability, ease of use and 2000m depth rating made it an easy choice.
The new V8 Offshore vehicles are the first ROVs to leave the factory containing the new Ocean Modules electronics and control platform for unrivaled scalability, redundancy and reliability.
Interest in the V8 Offshore remains high, with several more deliveries to be announced in the coming months.
Delivery to the Russian Offshore Industry
Ocean Modules has completed the first V8 Sii ROV delivery to the the Russian Far East oil and gas industry through a deal with Sakhalin Energy.
Sakhalin Energy is the operator of the Sakhalin-2 project under a production sharing agreement with the Russian Federation. The company was formed in 1994 to develop the Piltun-Astokhskoye oil field and the Lunskoye gas field in the Sea of Okhotsk offshore Sakhalin Island.
Sakhalin Energy is committed to being a premier energy supplier, recognised for its operational excellence, reliability and safety. In line with this mission, two operators from the company have spent three days at the Åtvidaberg training facility to receive their operation and maintenance certificates.
Ocean Modules V8 ROV Conquers Both Poles
Four years after visiting the Antarctic with the Aurora Australis Sea Ice Physics and Ecosystem Experiment the Ocean Modules V8 Sii ROV has now also visited the North Pole, to measure sun light underneath the sea ice.
Marcel Nicolaus and his colleagues from the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research are currently measuring how much light reaches the ocean under the sea ice. For their measurements, they are using light sensors, spectral radiometers to measure the light directly, an altimeter to measure the distance to the ice and the ice thickness, and a video camera to document the dives and the ice conditions. The ROV, known to the crew as Alfred, has been doing a great job and was happy to reach the North Pole on the 22nd of August 2011.
